  • More education is always a good thing. Diplomas are probably a requirement for high end luxury shops that pay better. I had a friend who worked in a Ferrari dealership as a mechanic, he made good money.

You can look up average starting salaries online coming out with different diplomas and compare them. Trade schools will have the info usually somewhere on their website. Might give you a better idea.

Another quick tidbit but it’s a good time to ask yourself if you want to work on cars badly enough that you are willing to drive a shit car to do it. There are much much better salaries in aviation for essentially the same type of jobs. It’s better to be working on planes for a living so you can afford to work on cars as a hobby.

  • No that’s dumb. Just get a PC. It’s 2025, you can use your phone as a remote control if you don’t want a keyboard. They even sell little remotes with the keyboard included (search tv remote for htpc on Amazon, I’m talking about the Rii i8 model).

The fire stick phones home and won’t let you do what you want with it either. It’s the exact same thing as a smart tv.

  • which it turned out belonged to James […] whose number appears on his company website.

When Smethurst challenged that, it admitted: “You’re right,” and said it may have been “mistakenly pulled from a database”.

but the overreach of taking an incorrect number from some database it has access to is particularly worrying.

I really love this new style of journalism where they bash the AI for hallucinating and making clear mistakes, to then take anything it says about itself at face value.

It’s a number on a public website. The guy googled it right after and found it. Its simply in the training data, there is nothing “terrifying” about this imo.

  • Very interesting. I’ve never had anything paranormal happen to me but I like to believe in it and it’s always fun hearing accounts like these. I imagine it is a bit stressful having nightmares haha.

I would write them somewhere more public (like a blog) or with witnesses. If something that could never ever be a coincidence and becomes public knowledge happens (like a major disaster), people will doubt you wrote about it before hand. I’m sure proving yourself isn’t something you really care about, but every event that becomes accepted helps others come forward and removes some of the stigma imo.

  • Batteries are not something you should mess around with without experience. There is a very real chance of a fire and your insurance might not pay out if its caused by you.

It’s doable but I would be very careful and triple check everything. The better solution is probably to plug it into an outlet or directly wired into the house, with the solar panels on the roof instead serving the entirety of your home.
