Affinity suite is dirt cheap and is a single purchase, none of that licensing crap.

The Windows ecosystem is an abominable pile of half-finished apps and dark patterns that should be slam dunked into the trash. The problem is in the leadership that is laser-focused on milking business users who are used to Microsoft’s abusive practices.
Why? The browser client is ok.
I use gimp for professional graphic design at my workplace, nobody gives a shit.

“Whoops I stomped on the MBR again, what are you gonna do 'bout it?”
Rooty@lemmy.worldto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Quick everyone, prevent a warning text or something379·2 months agoI’ve been hearing about Linux elitists for the last 20 years, and I have yet to meet one. But what I do see is an endless wave of trolling and bad faith arguments about the supposed complexity of Linux.
They treat a wide array of developers, maintainers and enthusiasts as employees of Linux inc, and now they’re grumpy because their imaginary ticket submitted to a nonexisting helpdesk is not being processed.
I have recieved much more help and support from the Linux community than from any other proprietary software helpdesk.
I like how the Linux user stereotype has changed from “greasy neckbeard” to “femboy”.
Try being a graphic designer or video editor. I’ve stopped running out of disk space and started running out of SATA slots on the mobo.
Blender is so versatile, and has so many applications that you have to end up with a cluttered interface. Since the alternatives have licenses that have a steep cost, I would say that putting up with a clunky interface is well worth it.
I understand the impetus behind RTFM - It happens when the user failed to do basic troubleshooting and expects others to do their thinking. Being blown off doesn’t feel great, but other people’s time is valuable, and in the end your system is your own responsibility.
Hear hear! It’s wild to see what Mac and Windows users put up with. The Linux experience may sometimes be cryptic and frustrating, but at least I know I’m not paying for the privilege of being shat on by a large corporation.

Installing Linux on your buttplug is a bold move, I say.

Rooty@lemmy.worldto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Almost as annoying as the windows evangelists155·3 months agoNoooo, you cannot have a consistent UI/UX experience across platforms with decades old commands and tools, my imaginary grandma might get confused, also you need three IT degrees to type “man command” into a term window.

You install Linux to run cool software.
I install Linux to run cool software.
We are exactly the same.
