Linux@lemmy.ml•Advice for a Mac user switching to Linux?
41·5 months agoIts really quite easy, if you own an intel mac, just install debian on it, maybe carry some data over, if you must. I would recommend a usb stick. Install a good looking desktop environment, and look up a few starter tutorials. Easy, and quick. Linux isnt hard at all, if you dont want it to be.
Thank you!! Great point

I dont help them at all, i am here just trying to understand the people who help others. Also, do you want people to help or not? Do you help ppl? I think you should appreciate any help you can get. Even if it is the evil CLI help.
I see your point there, but it is just far easier to give an answer in command form, than telling people where to click on a GUI.
But i do understand what you are saying, and i cant argue with it. GUI tools are good for early users, and those who dont want to use the CLI. CLI is better for those who want/need that extra power.
I think the problem lies in the usage of commands from the internet, if you take a look at the commands, they get very straight forward and easy to use. Also i never said that the commands where hard, or you need to use them. If a newcomer uses a gui its fine, but for the most power, and least resources, the cli is, ans will always be, the best.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Recommendations for GPU with good Linux support, 8GB or more VRAM, and ~150W TDP or less?
3·5 months agoRx 580, wonderful card, its cheap, 8gb of vram, and runs all the games you need
If there is a cli variant, why do you feel the need to do the same in a gui, its slower, most of the time far uglier… All in all just not as good as the cli tool

Back in my day we had proper distros!
Btw: I was just stupid, and a bit to determined to install arch. So i wasted an hour on my internet connection (3 commands). And another four to find archinstall… This was 2 years ago…

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Guys, what's the best Linux distro to install on my PC?
3·5 months agoGentoo, if you have time you can mold it into whatever you need. And if you do it right its rock solid. And if you dont have a shit ton of time use debian, its reliable, fast, and has a ton of support articles.
Thats why im switching to NetBSD
Plesse, no flatpak TwT
The easy fix is to geht fucked im your ass, if ur a guy. Because the getting fucked counters the fucking. Just remember to allways do the same ammount, otherwise it wont work.
