Make sure windows was shut down all the way. Normally when you shutdown windows, it only hibernates and it locks it’s partitions to prevent editing. I tried installing Zorin for a family member recently, and it couldn’t install until I booted back into windows and shut it down fully.
To shutdown fully, in windows you need to either hold shift while clicking the shutdown button, or open the run box and run the command shutdown -s -t 00
It’s not like the current group of users is perfect either. There’s a lot of circlejerk opinions going around, and I’ve seen being get majorly downvoted for posting factual info that went against the “hivemind” opinion.
Recently ran into an issue with Endeavour OS where the built in printer program would give errors when trying to add my network ecotank printer.
Tried using cups terminal and it worked the first time, and is still working weeks later.
So some of the GUI printer apps that distros ship with have issues apparently, but I don’t know the extent of it.

You can kinda already do that, apps like rdx, Stealth, and Geddit pull reddit content without using the API. You can’t vote/comment, but you can still follow communities that have worthwhile content.
This seems cool, but hasn’t Windows 11 started blocking some different apps that replace parts of the UI?
I don’t know of anything specifically, just my experience with printers on linux is they either work pretty effortlessly or they’re awful and don’t seem to work correctly no matter what you do.
The catch with Libby is that usually all the good books have hold times. This isn’t an issue when you’ve been using Libby for awhile, you put a bunch of books on hold and you reach a point where you always have something available. But it can take weeks/months as a new user to get to that point where you are constantly having waitlisted books coming available.

Slice & Dice is 60-100MB (depending on what version you get), and I’ve been playing it for hours a week for 3 years now.

Slice & Dice is the best game I’ve ever gotten on my phone, I bought it over Thanksgiving in 2021 and haven’t stopped playing it since. It’s similar to deck builders, but dice based.

The game is still in active development, but the dev only releases updates every 1-1.5 years. The updates are absolutely massive though and add a ton of content.
Google and Samsung now provide updates for 7 years, and Fairphone provides updates for 8 years.
From what I can tell, Apple doesn’t promise a set number of years for updates. The iPhone x got about 5 years of updates before support was dropped, but Apple will occasionally give security updates to older devices if they’re severe enough.

Idk, with real people the determination on if someone is underage is based on their age and not their physical appearance. There are people who look unnaturally young that could legally do porn, and underage people who look much older but aren’t allowed. It’s not about their appearance, but how old they are.
With drawn or AI-generated CSAM, how would you draw that line of what’s fine and what’s a major crime with lifelong repercussions? There’s not an actual age to use, the images aren’t real, so how do you determine the legal age? Do you do a physical developmental point scale and pick a value that’s developed enough? Do you have a committee where they just say “yeah, looks kinda young to me” and convict someone for child pornography?
To be clear I’m not trying to defend these people, but it seems like trying to determine what counts legal/non-legal for fake images seems like a legal nightmare. I’m sure there are cases where this would be more clear cut (if they ai generate with a specific age, trying to do deep fakes of a specific person, etc), but a lot of it seems really murky when you try to imagine how to actually prosecute over it.
I know there was an issue not long ago where Sopuli had to defederate from kbin for awhile. Kbin had a federation bug that was endlessly spamming federation updates and it was causing Sopuli to fall behind on federation.
Mbin had a fix up pretty quick, but several attempts to reach the Kbin admin all failed.
I would hope so, but Asus has been doing things like this for at least 10+ years which makes me doubtful that anything will change soon.
Trying to refund through Asus will result in them dragging their feet, being as unhelpful as possible, or claiming you damaged the product.

No, I straight up had two different installation media’s fail until I went back and shut down windows fully. I’ve never run into that before on an install before.
First I tried ZorinOS, and it would fail to even boot into the live environment. I tried multiple times and even made a new install media. Then I tried fedora silverblue, it would get into the install environment but couldn’t do any kind of partitioning etc to the drive. I then rebooted to windows, shut it down fully, and tried again. This time fedora could edit the drive partitions, and zorin could load the live environment and install.
Previously I’ve had issues with shared drives being locked by windows, but this was the first time I’ve ever had an install fail because windows wasn’t shutdown fully. I don’t usually dual boot these days either though (I was setting up this computer for family) so I figured maybe something had changed with newer versions of windows or device security.
