Try penguin, but hole
I had a domain with them but at the time auto-pay was “auto-pay-from-acct-balance” as opposed to “auto-pay-with-the-credit-card-we-have on-file”
So i missed the renewal date, paid more to renew within grace period, and then transferred to a registrar with actual auto pay.
Otherwise they were great for that first year and i had no issues
This happened to me last year. Bought a cs4 and cs5 design suites back when they came out. Only ever used on one computer. When i unauthorized my computer and moved it to a new one they wouldn’t authorize it and demanded proof of purchase. I showed those fuckers a paper receipt from 10-15 years ago. They wouldn’t accept it and required additional information to verify i was authorized to purchase the software at the discounted price from an authorized retailer. It took several back and forth before they issued a new cd key instead of reactivating mine.
I suspect the cdkeys were cracked at some point and i just had the unfortunate luck of mine being abused. Would be nice if they didn’t require online authentication for a product i legitimately own though. If they are going to require online authentication then they need a more secure way of generating their cd keys.
Pihole let’s you set up groups so you can always exempt certain devices from blocking if that’s the issue. Otherwise you just need to go to your router and change the dns server to your pihole ip
let me ask this: what is your threat model? Don’t tell me, ask yourself that and work through it if you haven’t already.
Going full 100% and trying to become a shadow overnight if a great recipe for burning yourself out and not trying. Instead look at your specific threat model and work on the biggest things one step at a time. Make it a journey and only take a new step once you’re comfortable with the last.
What advantage is there is changing nameservers? Is it just the centrally manage DNS or something else? I’m fairly new to self hosting and only serving locally for now.
I do know cloudflare uses the same nameservers PER ACCOUNT so if you’re wanting to have multiple domains but keep one or more connections separated from you then this does draw a minor connection to a subset of Cloudflare accounts with the same two nameservers
The article said the man had done similar with airport wifi and a place of prior employment. But the airplane one is an odd choice
That is entirely up to the author who is creating the original work. They set the license and people can choose whether or not they want to work with the license. If i wanted to use someone else’s work for commercial purposes then i would just ignore any works released under a NC license. I’m not entitled to someone else’s work just because i need to eat
Look into a static website built with Hugo. You’ll be creating pages in markdown like obsidian. You can host it locally so there’s no privacy concerns.
If you want it externally facing then there are some options but you’ll need to find a site to host your static website and who you’re comfortable with their privacy policy.
Did we read the same blog announcement?
Proton AG will still need to be financially feasible. That is not changing. You can still not give them money if youd wish. They just have backed up their mission statement with actions instead of just words.
You can self host and make it accessible only to you from anywhere in the world.
You might be thinking about it not fulfilling the 3-2-1 backup strategy, but as long as you have a remote copy of the data through some means then you have the remote copy fulfilled.
I don’t know if it meets all your criteria but check out golden cheetah

Give it some time to learn. It is far more powerful than strava and anything you could pay for (yes, even training peaks).
Why didn’t you contribute this feature sooner then?
Id set up a static website with Hugo. You can preview and build locally. Or put it on your home network and vpn in if you need remote access to make an entry.
In your content folder you could do content/[year]/[month]/[day]/index.md, and have a _index.md in the year and in month folders so there would be pages with automatic collection of articles under that year/ month. You could also subdivide the content folder into health/ general/ shower thoughts and other “types” of journals
They have support for tags, categories, and custom taxonomies. So if you wanted to have “people” category you could, and then a “thing” category or any other sort of way to tag the content.
Its not any different than how it already was. Initially the GenAI models were all being trained on masses of unlicensed data including data from reddit. The problem is some companies like New York Times are suing for training an LLM off of their data. So in response companies like OpenAI are now trying to reach partnerships that basically license the use of the data (that they already had). This also means that they will be able to continue to have future access to that data as long as the partnership is in place. Whereas some companies without a partnership could start to ban scraping activity or update their terms to forbid training AI off of their data.
Overall these partnerships are a good thing. Licensed training data is good. But from a privacy standpoint, the AI models were already trained on reddit data. This is just formalizing the relationship
Id need a paid haveibeenpwned subscription for domain level support. Proton is adding this to their existing subscription services to add value to what they offer. It’s a smart move, especially once they add in catch-all/SL alias support
Few years ago they killed their killswitch . I believe it was technically still an option but they reduced it’s capabilities so that it wasn’t functionally a reliable killswitch.
They also got heat for installing root CA certs. https://www.techradar.com/news/new-research-reveals-surfshark-turbovpn-vyprvpn-are-installing-risky-root-certificates
I believe both issues are “fixed”, but they were some questionable decisions
Not end to end encrypted afaict. The only way id ever consider a service like this is if it was e2e.
Also incogni is owned by surfshark which i think is more important than their partnership with nordvpn
Here are some good rule of thumbs for work and schools:
do not connect to their networks with your personal devices, ever.
Only use work/ school devices on their own network.
Do not do anything personal on those networks. only do work/school related tasks. This means don’t log into any non school/work accounts.
If for some reason they don’t have a device for you but require you to use their network, then leave your personal devices at home claiming you don’t own one and make them accommodate you.
You cannot expect privacy in these situations, and by going to the extreme lengths to try to get it then you will ironically just paint a bigger target on your back if any network admin cares. In some cases this can cost you your job or get you in trouble with the school.
