“No, you don’t understand, Linux is not desktop ready, I know that because I installed Fedora back in 2008 and it was kinda wonky.”
You don’t even have to install it to try it out, just boot from USB into live mode.

Madness? Buying a new computer every 2 years because the OS vendor is in cahoots with hardware manufacturers is madness. This is rational usage of resources for your benefit.
Now only if there were a nice alternative to Android. I might get a Fairphone with Ubuntu touch.

Proprieatary software has become completely unusable, programs that would have been labeled adware and spyware are now being pushed by corporations as the norm. I use open source software in my workflow, but I am still hobbled by Microsoft’s awful OS.

I install Linux to run cool software.
We are exactly the same.
Affinity suite is dirt cheap and is a single purchase, none of that licensing crap.
The Windows ecosystem is an abominable pile of half-finished apps and dark patterns that should be slam dunked into the trash. The problem is in the leadership that is laser-focused on milking business users who are used to Microsoft’s abusive practices.
Why? The browser client is ok.
I use gimp for professional graphic design at my workplace, nobody gives a shit.

“Whoops I stomped on the MBR again, what are you gonna do 'bout it?”
Linux will never become relevant on the desktop until its has better spyware support.
