With emulation, even more.

Have you ever typed in Chinese characters on a keyboard? I guess not, because otherwise you would know what that comparison is rather obvious and flawed.
If anything, your position is in opposition to nihilism.
There are different kinds of nihilism. Your position is in contradiction with the “purest” form. The absence of an objective value in anything and everything. Your position clearly values personal consent.
There are other kind of nihilism, like political nihilism, might not be in conflict with your position. On the other hand, existential nihilism, the belief that there is no inherent meaning/value in life, might seem to align with your position but I think it is difficult to argue in favor of consent, even to being alive, while believing that life is inherently meaningless. I mean, why does the consent of a meaningless being matter to anyone? Of course, you could take an adsurdism position to it but then I would argue that calling you nihilistic would be a mischaracterization.

I stopped gaming because of this shit.

15·1 month agoOf course, it works. The tech was never the issue. The issue is that they think that linux is easier to modify to break the kernel anti cheat. It is a PR issue, when there is enough money, magically the pr issue is gone.

49·1 month agoI am excited for the steam machine because of the anti cheat issue. If we push for linux gaming, they are forced to either find a
spywarekernel anti cheat solution for linux or drop thespywarekernel anti cheat.
So apparently I go from “knowing nothing” to “guru” and back daily.
And remove telegram too. Telegram should be avoided by any it person.
Because the creator is clueless. Telegram with someone who encrypts their /home??? Telegram is hiding the encrypted chat from the average user. That is literally all the reason I need to avoid it.
And they place bitcoin of all things in the tor network and full disk encryption tier… bitcoin… where everything is traceable and which is more mainstream than /home encryption.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Most people seem to assume fire alarms are false alarms. Is that how it's always worked? What can be done about it?
8·4 months agoThe problem is not the detection system or that people don’t believe it.
The problem is that people don’t seem to understand the utility of behaving like something is true while “knowing” it is not true.
E.g. let’s say, I “know” the gun is not loaded, should I point the gun at a friend and pull the trigger? No.
Verifying information before acting in a way that would put people in danger, is worth wasting time for.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you a feminist? (If so why, if not why not?)
12·4 months agoI would call myself a feminist because I believe in equality. You know, fuck sexism.
Just that master doesn’t actually makes much sense in most git workflows.
If you understand master like you would understand the master/slave relationship in old tech, then of course, master seems to make sense until you realize that there is no slave in that sense or in name. Additional, master is rarely doing anything but having release or hot fixes being merged into it. Arguably dev is the master of the branches.
In other words, master was always a bad name. It is silly to rename it because “racism” but it is at least equally silly to act like master is a much better name than “main” or “live” or “prod” or … Fuck, the list is long.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do some people want to go back to the 1950’s?
2·6 months agoHe was young.
Being young, is nice. Mostly because you don’t have to deal with a lot of the issues that e.g. a house, children and maybe the marriage is not as loving as it used to be.
So he misses being young, but instead of realizing that he was just young. He thinks about what was different and as your responses imply, he blames foreigner for the change. As you expressed that he thinks of you as just a girl, he is probably also sexist and the 50s were much more sexist as it still is.
In other words, culture changed, he didn’t and he is old.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If americans come to germany and act like german public Transport is the best, how frickin bad is american public Transport?
6·6 months agoThat is not true. Bielefeld is not real.
Windows is doing EEE again.
Serious answer,
Windows subsystem for Linux.
Teach yourself and those around you that if someone pressures them, they should end the call and call the person, but NOT BACK.
“Hey grandma, I have been in an accident.” “Okay, I will call back in a moment” now, don’t call the number that called you, but call your e.g. grandson’s number and talk to them.
That kills any scam attempt and ensures that your grandson is talking to you.
That works for your “bank”, or the police, or the government, or a company. For anything. Your bank and your government should appreciate your operational security.
