Yeah, I’ve never once seen anything but criticism over the US’s involvement in the middle east.
The most I’ve seen is a couple people saying the equivalent of “well SOMEONE had to do something about X” And a bunch of others jumping on them to clarify that X either never existed, or was massively exaggerated and the US isn’t the World Police.
Genuinely would love to see someone link a good faith comment trying to argue the above, so I can tell them all about how they’re a fucknut
Can you truly say you’ve had the HB experience if you haven’t recieved emoji/sticker/gif spam from people who weren’t alive for 9/11, have never been outside their country, and refuse to listen to opposing views, but know with full certainty that all western countries are 100% full of genociders and colonial rapists who all deserve the glorious death the super benign, extremely peaceful and misunderstood countries of North Korea, China, and Russia who have never once been correctly accused of human rights violations…
And of course, if they point out that your country has dipped into those things in the past, well your entire worldview is shattered and their whataboutism has solved everything and proves you deserve the death they crave for you.
I wouldn’t say “embarrassing” unless you are actually embarrassed by it.
There are certain pieces of media I have connected with that I won’t get into detail about, but I wrote up a whole fanfiction about back in the day. Looking back, I’d say my past self certainly loved one of the characters. I’m not embarrassed by that, but I don’t like… Have it in my dating profile.
It’s certainly unorthodox to say you’re “in love” with a fictional character, but ultimately as long as it isn’t a detriment to your mental well-being or “real life”, then ultimately does it matter if someone might giggle at your expense?
I’m guessing someone from the Macross series, maybe Robotech.
Because nobody ever talks about those, and some of the characters are pretty relatable and get in some sketchtastic situations that take awhile to be saved from.
Ultimately I don’t want to be told the real answer. It’s just fun to guess.
I’m not saying this to try and downplay your own emotions, but some level of “not wanting to see my favorite character in pain” is pretty normal for everyone. Not to this extent, but on some level, for everyone.
In Stargate Atlantis, when Dr Rodney McKay gets a brain parasite that turned his brain into basically a child, I lost my shit. I had to stop the episode to take a break multiple times because I literally couldn’t see the screen. Didn’t matter that I was certain they would have him back to normal by the end of the episode. Doesn’t matter that I know how the episode ends now. Still can’t watch it all in one go without problems.
That might have more to do with personal phobias though, because every other time he’s in danger I react about the same way the other characters do. Eye roll and a chuckle, because he’s probably overreacting out of anxiety (definitely not something I would do… Heh…)
As others have said, and I’m just confirming, empathy is pretty normal, and likely the closest thing in English at least. Can someone ask a German?

To me it read as “Walmart was already tracking your app and website usage but NOW THEY’RE SELLING IT!” which… I mean I assumed anyone that uses their app and website was having their data harvested just like every other multi billion dollar corporation does… Walmart just decided to slap a new name on it.

I’ve not seen anything that creepy, but one of the youtube channels I watch is an outdoors person, and she posts videos of like building shelters and shit, along with other things but honestly those are the ones I care about…
She posted a thing awhile back after taking some time off, apparently one of the viewers recognized something in one of her videos, and decided to spend weeks wandering around forests trying to find her.
A dude literally went out of his way for WEEKS to find a woman he has never met, who doesn’t know he exists, and he knows travels alone in the woods, so he can be face to face with her in the middle of nowhere… And didn’t see a problem with that apparently.
Now in this instance, it was more of “wander a large area looking for signs” but another YouTube (tom Scott) posted a video awhile back giving as little information as possible, and it was him standing in a cornfield. Only a small bit of the sky was visible. He literally asked for people to track down that spot, in order to prove a point in another video.
People did it scary quick, unfortunately there was either a plane or a contrail visible, and with time of day and the sound of a nearby frog people got the spot to within a few feet or something like that. Details are fuzzy, it’s been years since I saw the video.
You get a fine you can’t pay? Sorry that’s illegal. Jail or seized assets. If you have no assets, just jail and garnished wages. Good luck paying your fine on 23 cents a week (minus taxes)

Commenting solely on the PR aspect, i always immediately side with the individual over the company… Even if the person in question is literally trying to destroy the company entirely, and did blatantly illegal things like breaking in to steal a formula or something.
I might change my mind at some point afterward, but I will always immediately side with the individual simply because a company can crush an individual’s life with ease, but an individual cannot so easily crush a company. So as far as I’m concerned, it’s just solidarity to side against the company.
