I’ll rephrase lol it’s per device, so any issue or reflash means you have to contact?

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Pebble Watch Software Is Now 100% Open Source
13·7 days agoI finally got my Duo 2, and while my old OG still lasts 3 days on a battery I figured time to give it rest.
So far its been great, except that I can’t connect to gadgetbridge anymore. I uninstalled the Core pebble app and instead popped MicroPebble on my phone due to not exactly liking where Core was heading, so I’m glad they’re finally pivoting.

1·16 days agoI ended up using navidrome for my music to take advantage of the subsonic API, which has been phenomenal 🙂

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Is self-hosting becoming too gatekept by power users?English
1·20 days agoFair enough! My own experience has so far been less helpful, due to it hallucinating config based on what I’m asking and if my use case is possible, which made me turn more to perusing docs and source code 🙃

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Is self-hosting becoming too gatekept by power users?English
62·20 days agoEh, the issue with using AI with something like a self-hosted setup is that it lacks nuance and is most likely sourced from all the stack overflow answers without including, again, any context that might be involved.
This leads to situations where it “works,” but potentially in a way with glaring issues that you would otherwise get from this community.
That said, I understand that “advanced” users here can be uptight about things that they believe to be a foregone conclusion, which is where the whole “learning” aspect is what we all need: both learning to self-host “better” and learning to help others.

Technology@lemmy.ml•The Data Center Backlash Is Swallowing American Politics
31·20 days agoIf they were more measured in their approach, I bet it would be better. Instead they’re plopping them everywhere with little regard for what it’ll do the impacted community.

4·3 months agoAnother bump for navidrome, I’ve been using it for 4 years and it’s the best.
Molly was easy enough, switching the notifications was a bit more painful. I found that the airgapped solution worked more seamlessly than the web server though
Just switched to molly-foss and am using mollysocket and have no issues

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Bad film with amazing premise and mediocre execution that you can't stop thinking about?
131·7 months agoI’ll be that guy that enjoyed The Last Jedi explicitly because it was something different, and leaned into more of the mystical side of the force while on the “big screen.”
Edit and spoiler just in case
I just remembered the hyperspace “weapon” moment, and both how cool it was and how much it could affect the empire. They probably didn’t mean for it, but that you could effectively point and shoot a ship like that was an amazing usage.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How do I use HTTPS on a private LAN without self-signed certs?English
73·8 months agoI have a script to self-sign 10 year certs on internal traffic only, and then added my public cert to devices needing it. I’m going to be really annoyed in a decade, but until then I’m having a ball 🙂
I love my xeros, but they are US based right? In Colorado?

homeassistant@lemmy.world•What hidden "secrets" have you learned from your home automation?English
2·11 months agoI tend to post then disappear lol but what the other person said: at the router level, I added a rule specifically to block a given list of MAC addresses. That included IP cams & the ecobee, then had HA act on data from other sources to adjust temperature.
The one I was proud of was 433mhz door and window sensors that, if opened for too long, would turn off the heat / air and just leave a fan on.

homeassistant@lemmy.world•What hidden "secrets" have you learned from your home automation?English
4·11 months agoOne of the nifty things about smart thermostats like Ecobees is that you can pull usage data from their web portal.
Ecobee also let’s you connect over HomeKit and allows you to control when the internet is out 😉at my old house I actually blocked the mac address for non internal and just had HA automatons take care of the rest.

Thanks! I agree that its cool of him to offer that, just a bit painful on all sides 🙂
