The UI on the app is really disingenuous, it looks like there is no option to change until you click on the individual descriptions.

I’m clearly not understanding something here, but I thought search engines would require loads of space to index all the internet. Just thinking about the ability to search for code on stackoverflow seems like loads already.

It’s kinda rubbish that this is the only way to do this. Isn’t there some California law that says they haven’t to make unsubscribing easier? Can’t you just tell them you’ve moved to California?
