Cool! I’ll subscribe. I’ve got about a dozen projects I’d like to build with Ollama, if I’ll get the motivation and free time who knows?

Wow, I haven’t seen that in like two decades!
Thanks for the tip! I haven’t heard of that and I’ve been looking for something to keep track of this stuff as well.
I had forgotten about doing that myself. I did that on a couple servers once the distros had full 64 bit builds. Does that technically count as an architecture swap in-place as well?
“Medium: Same as easy but go from the derivative to the base.”
I can’t quite recall, but I think I did exactly that with Ubuntu -> Debian once upon a time. I think Ubuntu was only a year or so old though, so there wasn’t a huge amount of divergence back then. As a bonus anecdote I also attempted a semi-successful build of Gentoo on a PPC Mac around the same time (nothing before or after that has compared in its level of nightmare).
Fix regression with saving states of user queries
Awesome, I’m really glad that’s finally fixed. That issue made my use of FreshRSS almost pointless.

Although I’m in the process of switching to Jellyfin I think. I have it running separately to sort of evaluate it. Jellyfin was a fork of Emby, so there are a lot of similarities.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Jellyfin is not just good... but *better* than Plex now?!English4·5 months agoI’ve had Infuse Pro for about 6 years and it has been an absolutely perfect app for me. I’ve used it across many different iterations of home media servers (Emby, Jellyfin, NFS, SMB, etc…)
If you use Apple devices it’s the best way to go.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Algorithms are breaking how we think | Technology ConnectionsEnglish46·5 months agoGreat video, thanks for posting! This guy articulated a lot of thoughts about algorithmic recommendations that I’ve never been quite able to form into coherent thoughts myself. I definitely understand why I decided to go all in with the fediverse or social web half a decade ago or so now.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I want more federation! Federated browsers? Federated github? Federated hosting providers? Federated internet? Where are them?1·5 months agoBut that’s true of any network connected messaging protocol, making sure a message is delivered could be implemented client side. The issue with AP objects not making it to other clients / servers is more about federation discovery.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I want more federation! Federated browsers? Federated github? Federated hosting providers? Federated internet? Where are them?4·5 months agoI know how that is! Seems like I’m constantly wondering if I just made this or that up. 🤷🏻♂️
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I want more federation! Federated browsers? Federated github? Federated hosting providers? Federated internet? Where are them?6·5 months agoThe developer of Pixelfed - an Instagram-alike (and now Loops.video - a TikTok like platform) announced that he is working on an ActivityPub messaging service called “Sup.” There’s nothing else really known about it except that he’s developing it. AP would actually work fairly well as a messaging protocol aside from the lack of end-to-end encryption, but that too is being worked on.

Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Announcing FediMeteo – Weather in the Fediverse!English2·6 months agoThat’s a really cool use for snac! It’s perfect for something so straightforward and uses so little resources that I would imagine if you eventually have the entire planets weather forecasts being published it would still only use a tiny amount of bandwidth and power!
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Your explanation of federation that it "works like email" will be misunderstoodEnglish111·8 months agoI think one of the main reasons why the fediverse didn’t blow up much bigger than it did over the past couple of years is because of the weird and insistent need to explain how it works from every possible angle with seemingly every possible analogy. It’s information overload and it only confuses the shit out of people who do not care in the slightest how it works.
Hmm… maybe if we tell the nerds that they need to add an “abstraction layer” to their explanations that might motivate them to simplify?
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the worst someone got away with doing to you?2·8 months agoIndeed. I’ve had a few decent experiences with the justice system here, but far more were horrible if not straight up tragic.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the worst someone got away with doing to you?6·8 months agoThe particular small town I live in has about five “main” families that pretty much own everything and everywhere. They’re also the ones who hold all the local government positions. If I would’ve known all this before moving here, I would not have. At least now I know to research things like that before choosing a place to live in the future. Nepotism is not only common here, it’s a way of life.
And yes, it’s in the US.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the worst someone got away with doing to you?35·8 months agoI had a drunk driver crash into my car parked in front of my house at 3:15 in the afternoon and completely totaled the car. He sped away as I watched and so I called the police. They did catch up with him, but ultimately when it went to court the district attorney dropped the ball on some document details and the fuckhead basically got out of any sort of restitution. He did have his license revoked and probation, but my family no longer had a car and it seriously fucked us for well over a year.
I live in a small town and a couple years later I found out that the guy is not only related to the local judge, but also the district attorney.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Video conversion and encoding scriptEnglish2·8 months agoPerfect timing for me! I was starting to plan out how I was going to transcode my media library and had decided to write a script to do it. So I’ll give this one a try!
Already setup! I think the first thing I want to do is setup retrieval augmented generation. Several of my hobby ideas will require it I think. Started trying to read up on it a couple days ago and I had a serious lack of focus going on.
I’ve been kind of hoping to come across a super simple way to implement it, but haven’t exactly looked much yet.
