  • Piracy from the big guy who’s exploiting little guys to make and sell products is fair.

Pirating things off the little guy, who’s barely making a living is how the little guys stop making content on their own, and will instead opt to work for the big guy who can guarantee a livelihood, no matter how small. If you think you as a society isn’t contributing to it then just look around.

And It is only getting worse. While you can fantasize about it, indie-anything who get lucky are exceedingly rare for a reason. But you won’t stop removed about how everything from the Big Bad has gone to shit. It couldn’t totally be because everyone thinks they’re entitled to others hard work, because they paid for “the internet”.

But as always, entitled pricks are how we end up on ever more convulsive state of the world, no matter which side you’re on. So carry on, ig.

  • my $100 Walmart tablet lasts all week with light usage, I doubt this could compare

probably not in a first release, but Android is convulted piece of shit compared to linux desktop environments. Not to mention Google’s and/or OEMs built-in system apps running 24/7 guzzling all your data in the background.

In time, I guess it would beat out in performance and efficiency but lose in the availability of applications, same as desktop linux.

  • Right on time for the US government to lead their populace on an boogeyman hunt season by blaming anything inconvenient on an enemy state. without any evidence whatsoever… I might add.

    • unrest? Russian misinformation
    • online? Chinese bots
    • stop funding genocide? hamas opeatives
    • any criticism? people that want Trump elected

And the funny thing is everyone there eats it up like good little tools they are. But argue, US companies are not under government fingers like China and Russia. No sir, and when it’s found that they’re doing the government’s dirty work time and again behind closed doors.

“They’re conveniently just following the law, what do you expect them to do?”

  • People don’t realize how much of reddit content is made by bot farms and advertising agencies, propaganda outlets with bots to spare. Which is what’s keeping the normies entertained, not the nerds, not the niche community of a few thousand people.

People like the one you’re replying to always are so sure their echo chamber is right when reality is like complete opposite. Most people on reddit are lurkers and not terminally online people. They just want to scroll and fucking waste time. Community, subs and their mods or rules be damned.

They don’t care if the cat videos are on a banana sub. they’ll happily upvote and scroll away while the terminally online will start complaining why the post is not fit, a repost, or against the rules for 100s of time. And as always, once they leave, they think it is dead.

  • While F-Droid has issues, most of the points in the article are minor inconveniences blown out of proportion. Slow updates because they’re mostly community-funded. I kinda like their app approval and low level permission listing. It’s a double edge sword because there’s an additional level of audit, but also an additional layer for tampering. But that can also happen if devs turn malicious themselves.

Low target SDK lets me use apps that make old devices still usable. It keeps me from throwing them off on the landfill. Most browsers are fucked on old devices (no support for modern TLS) but youtube still works with newpipe forks. So at least I can carry it to watch youtube when travelling. Confusing UX is not a f-droid problem, there are already multiple alternatives.

The only problem they actually have is unstable leadership that has made some of the team leave and there are problems with key signing and they force devs to use old versions.

There’s a lot of wannabe “privacy” sites popping up since a couple years and everyone’s trying to start a big controversy off of small things. It’s easy to complain than rather do the work to make things better and most of these authors can fuck right off.

yea. but they get to claim like they fund the opensource world. like come on… stop posting fake funding claims on an anonymous forum and hire yourself a developer team if you’re so invested in this.

But whaa… developers salary aren’t funded by your $2 dollar donations, even with 100s of donations. oh geez… who woulda thought.
