I had a set of Davis Instruments air quality sensors that I kluged to work with HA. The one I use outdoors is no longer working, so I’m looking for a replacement. Can you recommend any particulate sensors that work directly with HA?

For the DI sensors, they have a local API that I wrote a custom script for that would get the various particulate readings and calculate the AQI. I’m not really in the mood to jump through all those hoops at the moment, so if there’s one that runs off zigbee or z-wave?

I have a Airgradient One (indoor) and a Airgradient Open air (outdoor) and love them. They are Esp boards with esphome configs available. They use readily available component that makes sensors easy to replace when they wear out or loose accuracy over time.

The whole project is open and you can buy the DIY kit and build it yourself or buy a prebuilt one.

Seriously*?! Thank you. This sounds odd but I’ve been looking for something to work where I work. I know nothing, except all the big name vendors are thousands of dollars for “industrial grade” cheap looking sensors. It’s been a harsh several meetings with these vendors trying to sell me $4-6k for little shit.

Edit: anyone have ideas for room pressure differential? Like a magnahelic , but digital of sorts?

One more Air Gradient user here. They just work with HA now. No need to change firmware or anything.

I like to have them on esphome. In my case I have them as Bluetooth proxies and also use them with Bermuda BLE triangulation (in addition to the air quality stuff).

I made my own 5 years ago, it’s still going great. Esp32 + particulate sensor + voc sensor + esphome. I do wish I had splurged and gone c02 instead of voc or in addition. It was like 1/3 the price at the time of the normal brands.

I use airthings Wave plus, but they’re for inside and you need btproxy/esphome (cheap and well supported) for the connection
