How long until Facebook and Google figure out a system that accomplishes the same thing, but doesn’t technically break the law?
It’s also about the fact that social standards and laws change. What may be perfectly acceptable today, could cost you your job or freedom in a few years.
Look at how many people lost their jobs, careers, and social standings because of old tweets that were resurfaced years later. That’s not even legal changes, just social propriety changes. The internet used to be the Wild West. People would go out with guns blazing, hootin ’ and a hollerin’. Then several years later we found ourselves in this socially progressive identity focused environment and shit people said in passing, likely without any thought at all, suddenly became part of their public identity.
Now imagine that there’s a drastic change in the law. Today you’re celebrating pride month, and 5 years from now homosexuality is outlawed retroactively… Seems preposterous, but it’s really not. We need our privacy, from both the government and corporations.
Good. Get fucked in hell!
Heh. No. They lost my trust years ago.
But whataboutism doesn’t actually form any sort of defense for the original point.
Not only do they delete truthful responses that contradict their ideology, they often do it in such a way that it is untraceable by other mods. I’m not sure how they accomplish that, nor is the admin who messaged me letting me know that it was happening and he couldn’t figure out how. Anyways, my solution has been to completely block that instance, and delete my account there. If they want to exist in a little untruthful echo chamber, then so be it, but I don’t need to be a part of it. I recommend you do the same thing.
I’ve reported so many posts in the meme community that I either need to completely block it, or get assigned to the moderation team. It is constantly overrun with political propaganda that doesn’t even slightly resemble a meme.
Wow. In 84 it cost about a dollar per minute to talk on a cell phone. That’s when minimum wage was $3.35 an hour. So you’d have to work for 20 minutes to afford one minute of talk time if you were a minimum wage worker.
This desperately needs to become an illegal industry. Perfectly legitimate businesses are letting their real business fall to the wayside as they convert their profits to a fucking consumer spying business. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of all the tracking, and I’m sick of ads popping up in new places all the freaking time. You go to pump gas and a commercial starts blaring in your face. You can’t escape it. You can’t get a moment of peace to sit with your thoughts. It’s negatively affecting our entire society, yet every business is pursuing it with zeal and the politicians aren’t doing jack shit to protect the people. Matter of fact the government is buying the data too. I never imagined this is what the future would look like when I was growing up.
Did they make less than $200M for their illegal activities? If not, then this is just the government getting their cut, and not a punishment at all.
Huh, I didn’t even know that existed. Thanks!
What is the quick look function you’re referring to? Are you talking about command spacebar to quickly find stuff? You can do that in Pop with the super key.
Yes, but when you do, they arrest you for illegal activity. So not reporting is the only real viable option. You can launder it, but they’ll still get you for tax evasion if they can
Crazy is pretty great in the sack.
Back in my early twenties I invented the martingale strategy, thinking that I had finally figured out a way to beat the house. I was pretty stoked. Then I talked to my manager about it and he let me know that it was a strategy which has already been proven to fail and has been heavily researched mathematically. Like you said, it’s pretty much impossible to come up with an original thought these days
I’m sorry, I don’t understand. Let’s try again. Pick from one of these 21 categories that don’t describe your issue.
Not if they have full market dominance. There are tons of industries, shit man, almost every industry, is now dominated by a few behemoth corporations that collude and rule through olegopolism.
Oh great, now customer service will be a million times worse, and you’ll never ever be able to speak to an actual person to get your unique issue resolved. This fuckin sucks
Messaging, at least between consenting parties, is speech. It is exactly speech. It is no different than talking, or writing a letter.
