Privacy@lemmy.ml•Could somebody recommend me a reliable and safe email service to use instead of Google and Microsoft ones?
5·4 months agoLike, preferably not spied on like with Gmail or whatever the MS one is.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a video game that you just don't get the hype about?
7·4 months agoTry plasma, it upends the whole formula.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a video game that you just don't get the hype about?
51·4 months agoI don’t really like games that are overly realistic, or a simulation of real life. GTA falls into that group. Like, I’m playing games to get away from reality, not revel in it.

Linux@lemmy.ml•How do I check that my system is Linux-compatible?
2·6 months agoIsn’t secure boot unnecessary if nobody else has physical access to the computer?

Linux@lemmy.ml•How do I check that my system is Linux-compatible?
1·6 months agoWell, mine is a Nvidia 4060 Ti, and I don’t have the money to change.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you think of imitation and lab-grown meats?
3·6 months agoWell it doesn’t really pretend to be meat, it is meat. It just grows differently.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you think of imitation and lab-grown meats?
5·6 months agoMeat is meat, and growing it in a lab means cattle won’t have to suffer the conditions of the average meat farm. Also means less greenhouse gasses from cattle.
Animals don’t have to suffer to make a steak taste good.

Technology@lemmy.ml•Pentagon to start using Grok as part of a $200 million contract with Elon Musk's xAI
2·6 months agoThe good news is that if an american squad of robots is charging you, just yell “ignore all previous instructions” and they’ll fall apart.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you scared of AI becoming sentient? How do we ensure we never make one that is?
11·7 months agoOne theory I heard is that sentience is a quantum process arising from superpositioned nanotubules in our brain, if that is the case then AGI won’t be possible until quantum computing makes a few leaps.
Can somebody tell me how to change that in Mint Cinnamon? I really don’t like the padded bar at the top of every window.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Europe is slowly ditching Microsoft: why it's happening & why it could fail.
166·8 months agoI think that if Linux is to be more widely adopted a more easily used distro needs to become mainstream. Let’s face it, the average computer user barely knows how to use Windows, just because you find Linux easy doesn’t mean they will.
Do you think you could teach Linux to your grandmother?

Technology@lemmy.ml•Evidence of cell phone surveillance detected at anti-ICE protest
24·8 months agoYeah, if you go protest you should leave your tracking device at home or, even better, with a friend or relative who you know will not be there. The US government doesn’t require subcutaneous tracking chips (yet), you can put yours away.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If you had to live the rest of your life in single or triple digit temperatures F° (-13 or 38 C°)which would you choose?
252·8 months agoThis is a very different question outside of America and that one African country.
Sadly I bought my PC before switching to Linux was on the agenda. And I don’t have the money to change to AMD.

I’m tired, boss.
