Linux@lemmy.ml•Those who've switched to Linux in the last year, how is it going?
7·28 days agoDoing great. Learned alot about Linux. I’m not that good at working with coding or so, but I love the help I can get from the Linux community. I’m on Fedora, because I liked their homepage, and because I had to start somewhere😁

Open Source@lemmy.ml•how much do you donate to the apps you use?
6·1 month agoI haven’t yet donated, because u want an easy and privacy minded way to donate. I’m not fan of crypto, because I still don’t understand how. How do you donate and still have privacy? Like I don’t want the bank or state to know what I support…

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are fediverse applications you use other than mastodon and lemmy?
3·2 months agoThats also my experience with peertube. And that its difficult tofinde something else. So I left it again. Hope to see more development in creators.
Same. I hate the traditions about it, that things have to be done as every year. Im one of thoese who think that traditions are rules made by dead people.
And why am I called the Grinch, when I just don’t like the consumption and the traditions. I was think of making an group for people who just don’t want to follow traditions.
I’m using actively Pixelfed, and having loops just for following the development of the app. Don’t see a purpose for loops for me, (never been on tiktok and I’m too old for fast pace vids).
I still don’t get why he is getting so much hate. And I’m not one of the fanbase. I just like pixelfed, for the old Insta wipes…

oh thank you. Im going to think about it more. I thank you for the research. I just dont wanna buy a device, that when the company ehind, decides that the device isnt working anymore, i cant do anything to expand the lifecircle. I like how i could get a older Thinkpad to get a new life with Linux :)
So it sounds like you could recomend Remarkable? Do you know how long the software support is?

Hey. Thank you all for the answers. It made me see that there are more devices to get to know. Like one of you has written, some devices may be so niche, that support isnt going too stay long. And, what to do then? Is it another device that will be in the schelff? Im going to look more into Kobo, and Boox, at first. But yir its just easyer to have a device in the hand, and then make a choice :)

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Is there an open source, privacy friendly universal package tracking app?
5·11 months agoThank you for the list
Mostly the local Radio station. But bigger things through Mastodon.
Just using them for different tasks. I think its helping me not to be “addicted” to one system. Just like not putting all eggs in one basket 😃
I like GOS too. And its this community that inspired me to make the change for some months ago, and now family is going the same way. Sadly I can’t use my pay method, in a profile with Google play service eneabled, I only can get it to work, once just after installing it. Maybe because I downloaded it fro Auora store. I’ve never been a fan of bank apps on phone, but this app is for sending money.
I’m really happy for GOS, and its somehow funny that I feel more privacy protected, but can’t see how it’s protecting me. Maybe its all under the hood 😀
