I’m a fucking albatross, I know… Or whatever that sailor’s curse bird is I forget. A crested wank.
On my redemption playthrough (send help)
I’m a fucking albatross, I know… Or whatever that sailor’s curse bird is I forget. A crested wank.
My advice is to be less like me
It seems to be working for other people
Just got into using Syncthing for my home network, was thinking I should add it to my phone. Makes sense it dies the instant I consider it
Putting Mint on an old iMac soon actually. Been a while since I got to use Linux.
For once I’m #1 in something 🥳
I have no tech background, and I am just getting into creating a media server. I started with an old secondhand Synology NAS, which developed a power issue within a month and no chance of returning it or getting it covered by warranty.
My current plan is to get another Synology NAS (new with extended warranty this time), along with a spare HDD enclosure so I can have an extra layer of redundancy, finally set up Jellyfin, and then I want to build a Pihole. At that point I won’t need much more self hosting or networking tricks until further notice.
Still have no idea what I’m doing.
Beer is fairly well solved enough by now that, if you have a good nose and a brew calculator site, you can guess your way to 80% accuracy for any given beer at a first try, and by the time I’ve iterated much further than that, I’ve arrived at something more interesting anyway.
If you’re a company that sells beer, your business model is more based on people’s lack of interest in that creative work than it is around protecting any “secret recipe”.
I hear that. I work from home and I’ve yet to make friends in a new country. It would be downright monastic if not for my family, instead it’s more of an insane asylum vibe.
I’m not even convinced happiness and fulfillment are the right thing to be actively seeking in life. If you have purpose, these things will come in time. If you chase them as your purpose, you will never truly have either.
That’s how you talk to someone with depression? Validate their hopelessness? Fuck off.
OP, voting is the bare minimum. You’re going to feel much more empowered joining your local climate protest group.
It’s a lot of work, and at the end of the day you might just end up leaving a you-shaped hole in the data. Privacy is a great thing to be mindful of as part of a larger understanding of modern media literacy, but it’s not all you should be about. Preach it when contextually appropriate, find a level you’re able to live with, and keep growing
An A4 sized e-ink tablet with colour and an open source OS would be my dream gadget.
Old StumbleUpon was everything to me
If you knew what came next in the ST timeline, you would not wish for it
All corporate social media has my permission to die
I’ve been quite coffee dependent ever since about age 16. Sometimes I like to take a week off, facilitated by a massive two litre teapot. In summer, iced tea is my crutch of choice.
Fuck the junta
Go on long walks with a litter bag cleaning parks etc while listening to books and music. Get really in shape. Cook every meal for my family. Write fiction. Get involved in helping local political movements. Attend more protests.
That’s all we need, a way for morons to turn the web into even more of a Potemkin village of meaningless blather
Saved for when I get my home server back up and running. This sounds way better than keeping everything on an external SSD.
