Falconry in the US exists as an exclusion from the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. Both of these laws make it illegal to disrupt or possess native birds or their parts. Falconers successfully petitioned the government to let them take wild raptors from the wild as long as falconers themselves regulate the participants. If the falconers are not being respectful of the birds it would be incredibly easy to strip their privileges.

In the same sense RC flying is a privilege from the FAA after too many people flew drones into airports and HAM is a privilege from the FCC to keep people from jacking up the airwaves.

I think those only need 1 test to play with them, and that’s because they are regulated by the government. They want people to follow the rules because if they don’t it can come down on all of them.

The biggest one of these that I know of is falconry which requires 1 falconry test, 1 hunt test, 1 inspection, and finding a two year sponsor. Falconry is specifically set up to gatekeep as to protect the sport in the USA.

I don’t use OneDrive but maybe in OneDrive settings it will show the path or folder syncs. I would google this one.

If you are not logging into the computer with your school account they probably do not have direct access to the device. If you are using office365 and have online files they probably have access to them. Maybe if you have OneDrive set up to sync folders with your school account they could have access that way.

There is no one school environment though so it would be impossible for us to know exactly how it is set up.

It’s because it counts as an aircraft. Getting licenced to use your drone for anything more than “wooo, flyin mah drone” covers a lot of the same stuff a private pilot would know like reading the maps, airport landing procedure, and airspace. I complained enough at my work about this that we shut off fast boot domain wide. I haven’t had to have a “I know that you just turned your computer on but I need you to restart it. No, not shutdown and turn on, restart. Yes, they are different things.” conversation in a couple years. Funnily enough I haven’t seen anyone complain about the significantly longer start up times. I guess people just expect that from windows lol.

Falconry can involve tons of different skills. Mews (aviary) and giant hood (travel box) can use carpentry. Hoods/other gear -> leather working. Bells -> metallurgy. Perches -> metalwork and woodturning. Drone / kite flying maybe depending on bird. One guy makes his own telemetry. Lots of designing for the many little things needed. Almost everything needed is handcrafted or repurposed from something. I use 3d printing for my giant hoods, whistles, and anklet templates. Also like, animal training and hunting stuff for the raptor.

But falconry is not a casual activity, it’s truly a lifestyle. Because of that, there are a lot of falconer couples, or, divorced falconers. So uh, make sure your partner is really into it before going in deep.
