I just quit yesterday with nothing else lined up. Gonna take a WHOLE MONTH for healing (isn’t it ridiculous how ridiculous that feels?) and then figure out my next move. I wanna build an app or something.
I’m just here for the free vacation.

That’s why passive was in quotes.
I make about $1k a month absolutely, completely passively from Amazon. I’ve put in maybe 30 minutes in three years. When I tell people this, they see that passive income is real.
Then I tell them about the years before that, where I spent every second I had making shirt and book designs. I had made a single sale early on and I saw the potential, so I sunk every godforsaken hour I had to spare (I also worked full time) designing and uploading, researching, networking, and pushing. I gambled, grafted, and earned it.
It’s absolutely worth the investment, but I only know that now. Back then it was an insane gamble - hundreds of hours of proper work for ???. I stop telling people about my ‘passive’ income now because no one wants to ruin the dream of freeeee money.
We get inclement weather about once every 6 years. I’ll choose to live dangerously.
Don’t meet people from online.
On the flip side, the ukulele community is so open and friendly, helped me stick with a hobby I sucked at to begin with, and now I’ve released actual music!
That was a great read!
Omg yes the ear protection. I never paid attention to the warnings, it was just a loud club on a random Thursday after all. I was too young to realize the compounding effect. Even now I look back and feel like my partying and exposure to loud fun was mild, yet here I am with partial hearing loss and a portable white noise generator.
I absolutely feel the same. Notice how you had to point out you’re left leaning? That just shows how militant and aggressive Lemmy can be that you have to state that just in case.
I like Lemmy, I just wish it was a little less stubborn (and I say that as a left leaning person).
We use it for our friend group, as we have pub nights, group meals, vacations etc. we also all do each other’s cat care when we’re out of town, so we have a channel devoted to pet photos etc. works well enough for us.
Heyyyy I’m at least double digits in age.
Idk why but Kelly Clarkson.
Stickers should have a greater sense of self worth and keep it together when people are trying to tear them apart.
A law that prohibits labels from being too sticky that you can’t reuse the packaging. For example, I should absolutely be able to easily peel off the labels from empty wine bottles and glass jars so I can reuse them.
Make jokes about not being busy. Make them boldly in slightly non appropriate circles. Then lean with the same amount of conviction into compliments. Agree with full heart, be non apologetic with the same force used to joke about how little work you have.
This duality is powerful because on the one hand you clearly have nothing to hide, and on the other hand you’re painfully truthful. Works a charm. Then go have brunch on the clock.
Outdoor hobbies. I’ve got really into foraging, which has multiple benefits, I get to be outside, I get exercise, I learn new things which stimulates my brain, and if I’m lucky I also get free food (which is usually superior in taste and nutrition to store bought). I combine it with hiking, fishing, geocaching etc and if I’m alone I sometimes listen to music on my headphones. Once you start developing outdoor hobbies it’s like you unlock an insanely intricate open world video game.
I just recently quit my job and it’s got me thinking about app development around this idea.
