I agree with that i also think they should offer a more complex test that will extend that time to 10 years. After a certain age though you’re only eligible for a 5 year extention.

He had HR involved within minutes and she was fired. All of that happened in about 20 minutes of the photo being taken. There is a strict policy on photos of other people at work that has its own training we all do annually.
For those wondering about the shirt

LifeOfChance@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•How do we get "normies" to adopt the Fediverse?English81·9 months agoI’ll be open and honest knowing whenever bringing the subject up generates anger. “Normies” aren’t gonna join somewhere where 99% of the conversations revolve around using Linux. Jump into any thread and someone’s talking about it. Doesn’t even need to be a tech thread. As soon as someone goes against the grain immediate backlash. It’s not welcoming at all.

With that said though I will happily help guide them to resources and donate to shelters fairly often. I have some bad history with strangers so even though I’ve tried working through it there doesn’t seem to be much change.
You doing what you did is awesome and I bet really helped that guy with more than just a shave.
Not even a little. We are being forced into sickness and poverty. We make just enough to put food on the table and even that’s getting harder. An unexpected illness is setting people back on their bills. Every law that’s passed goes against what the people want and the only way this will ever change is if we can afford to pay off a politician like all the major companies do. Voting doesn’t feel like it makes a difference anymore and the only platform it feels like they use is “at least I’m not them”. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again if someone paid for us to leave the US I’d be packed within a couple of hours.

I genuinely can’t comprehend this statement. I’ve always heard it and it just sounds like random words jumbled together
Knuckles seem easier
LifeOfChance@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why Assassin's Creed has lost its identity?291·1 year agoHonestly killing off Desmond started the fall in my opinion. They had us invested and just killed him off suddenly. I personally think they should remove the assassins creed title at this point. It’s open world combat barely any sneaking assassin stuff. The new Japan one is wasted at this point. It’s what everyone wanted back when the start setting it up with ezios short movie. They shot themselves releasing it as a crappy side scroller…

Think it's overblown?14·1 year agoAs someone who did my part with the social distancing, masks, and shots up to the 2nd booster, I genuinely just do not care any more. Let’s face it the worlds trending downwards now for whatever reason we want to blame it on. If the virus gets me that’s fine. I’ll probably not listen to any regulations if it ever got to it.
I use Linux but can not stand Linux users on here. As soon as there is any conversation about windows there’s a line of people “why aren’t you using linux?!” As if it’s the solution for everything. Linux users have become the vegans of the internet.

So the original plan was a tablet but for a fraction of the price we got a very basic smartphone with no service meaning just at home with internet. We started with a max of 20m once a week to make it kind of special but nothing something to become crazy about. Over the years we have given more time for things like chores with a max of 2h a week typically stretched out over the week and some times we would just have a lazy day with it so all 2h in one go. We knew it was tech that she was going to need skills with so we don’t count things like learning math or enligh against the hours allowed. We began practicing how to text and make calls with our phones and routinely make blocked calls when she’s using one of our phones to see what she does and to encourage open communication with us. For us this method has worked amazingly but I know this is not the norm for most.
LifeOfChance@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What item do you own that has an unexpectedly high value?1·1 year agoI have some rare coin collection that I inherited. When my great uncle passed away he just asked everyone to be fair when they go through his stuff. I told everyone they could go ahead I wasn’t too worried about getting anything of his as he didn’t really keep much sentimental stuff. My mom put a few things aside in a box that she thought I’d like. When I finally had time to go through everything I noticed a binder that looked rough and weighted a ton. Sifting through it I didn’t see much reason to keep it but to be safe I decided I’d go talk with my neighbor who owns a pawn shop and knows more about coins than I do. Come to find out I have 2 VERY limited coins that were nearly perfect for their time. Something about them predating US currency. Total value of all the coins is anywhere between $50k-100k. Selling them takes a life time though.
I disagree. Lemmy is a very small group of individuals and these type of threads are going to have similar minded people finding eachother. In the grand scheme of things we are next to nothing in scale of the billions of people on this planet.
The big difference being that most people don’t know or care to learn how to download their own OS. Installing a browser is quick and easy in comparison.
I’ve been out of the tech world a minute now so maybe its changed but last I knew no PCs came with Linux preinstalled and you can’t just get a Linux OS disk to use to install.
