If you use any kind of ad blocker, switch to FireFox
Chrome is deliberately crippling ad block extensions via manifest v3
For a while, I had to do this after every kernel update
Turns out, i accidentally had two /boot
folders. One was is own partition, and the other was on the rootfs partition. When Arch booted, the separate partition was mounted over the rootfs /boot
dir, “shadowing” it
Except, UEFI / GRUB was still pointing to the rootfs partition. So when pacman installed a kernel update, it wasn’t able to update the kernel that UEFI was booting, but it was able to update the kernel modules
Kernel no likey when kernel modules are newer than the kernel itself
I enabled testing repos for KDE 6.0 early access, and they include an overlay like this that says it’s a test release
Despite thinking that was a good idea, it felt a little like this, lol
There’s a reason I run Linux, and root my Android
Because it actually feels like my device now
(And fixing issues is significantly easier, if you know where to look)
The downvotes aren’t surprising; it’s not a very popular idea
I still think it’s an idea worth exploring, though
Businesses won’t support Linux if they can’t sell something, and it gives us access to the code
We should have more “source available, but you still need to pay for it” licenses
Best of both worlds, the company still gets to sell a product, and we can inspect the source, or even submit PR’s (and maybe get a little kickback (but that’s pie in the sky))
Granted, it’s super easy to remove the license restrictions with the source available
I would use it, if KDE plasma would support it in their settings GUI
I’ve gone full linux both at home and at work. Thankfully, most of the tools we use are cross platform / FOSS. But in the odd case, I use KVM (the linux equivalent to Hyper-V) to spin up a windows VM
It has it’s issues (like graphics card pass-through), but it works pretty well
I dunno really, something about tech support and no money
I was having a hard time with the fursuit, and she just said “forget it” after the third time i mentioned GNU/Linux

I personally do most of my heavy scripting in python
This one hits scarily close to home
I even use a non-POSIX shell (https://www.nushell.sh/), with my config synced with Syncthing
My first “daily driver” distro was Arch, and i love every minute of it.
It’s a tinkerer’s dream
I feel like the people who complain about systemd have never tried to mess with sysVinit scripts before
6+ years ago, I was trying to configure a touchscreen HAT for a raspberry pi, and dicking with the init.rc script was a massive pain
You can either patch the binary
Or install
paru-git
Or do both, patch the binary, then use it to install
paru-git
(which is what i did)
