Given nutomic’s response, I see what you mean. You could use mbin (I’m using fedia.io) instead. Others probably suggested other stuff too. Good luck!

You can donate to them, can’t you?
I mean… you could contribute and write the feature
Definite. I wonder wow do they’ll monetise it though.
Next step, publish on peertube.
So you’re completely ignoring the rise of fascism due to voting? The second world war happened because a bunch of nazis stormed the German parliament and took control of it by force? What do you think populism does?
Of course you can change the system from within. Le Pen, Höcke, Meloni, Wilders, Trump, and so on, they aren’t “part of the establishment”. They latched onto a populist narratives, got financial aid from the radicals in their countries, and gathered votes to get themselves into offices .
The left-wing parties in France united to pose a unified front against the national assembly (le RN) in France. And it worked. They got the relative majority to vote for them, but as soon as they won, they were beset by infighting. Such is the common reality of left wing parties - they are their own greatest enemy.
Either you chose to ignore it or you were unaware, but the latter is much less probable, so I’m going to say you chose to in order to fit your narrative of “voting doesn’t matter” and imagine that class warfare (or how Marx would put it “Klassenkampf”) is the only way out.
That’s defeatism. You especially should believe in the collective. We are not just innocent little playtoys of powers beyond our comprehension. If that were the case and we had no free will, then what’s the point of living? If you truly believe you control nothing in your life, then why still walk this earth?
A single ant cannot destroy a tree. It’s the work of countless ants that achieve that.
“I want”
does nothing for it
Decisions are made by those who show up.
84% of Americans want something they are unwilling to vote nor do anything for, but they sure as hell will complain about it.
For users, maybe, not for content creators. They still want to get paid and on the fediverse, the only thing you can rely on right now is people going through the hassle of clicking on a donate button, opening a third party website, logging in there, and following the procedure to donate. On youtube it’s just, users just have to watch videos.
I just looked it up and GrapheneOS only works on google hardware? So you had to give google some money first or did you get it to work on something else?
The USA truly has the world by the balls.
Oh, I see. That confused me, but I get it now. My bad.
Sure, the reactionaries would sign something to not federate, but if threads and youtube start federating, you think things are going to stay the same?
I still use Instagram. I will not use Instagram if it had activitypub support.
wat?
Do you understand what the fediverse does? Do you need to login to lemmy.world in order to make a comment with your lemmy.ca account? Do you need to login to mastodon.social to see responses from mastodon.social users?
To elaborate: it’s not about gaining the users from the fediverse: nobody give a shit about us. It’s about taking away users from other big platforms.
Imagine if MKBHD realised he could do all his media relations from a single account. He could post a promotional picture (or video) on his youtube account and have it be visible on instagram, threads, twitter, tiktok, etc. . Comments from tiktok accounts would show up on the youtube video to youtube users on youtube.
Or a tiktok user uploading their short videos would have them show up on youtube shorts and insta (/threads) at the same time. Again, engagement from any platform would show up on one single account.
That’s not the danger, the danger is there being even less incentive to move to opensource alternatives. If you can have one account on e.g youtube with which you can talk to people on threads, send pictures to insta, and receive comments from everywhere, why move?
Because in real life I don’t like people looking over my shoulder at everything I do and digital snooping is the same (or worse).
