I am gonna give it a shot. This may sound strange but i am using KDE with GDM lol. Maybe it will help or hurt me not sure yet.

I used ubuntu for 10+ yr and switched because of firefox snap. To fedora. Wow it is so much better here

Word. I did not see foss originally. Gunz is hard at first but everyone is willing to help out new players since the community is so small. As long as you have internet and maybe a mouse you shud be fine.
My bad, missed foss. I wish I could get the source, there is one at opengunz servergithub but it missed a huge amount of the work the FGunz developers have done inside the game engine.
