There’s a hobby project I’ve been working on for over a year, but now I’m not sure I’m even going to bother to release it because everyone will just assume I vibe coded it in a weekend.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Windows 11 is failing as an operating system
1·11 days agoMaybe there’s some way, but Google didn’t want me to know about it. All their docs made it seem like I would have needed to have an enterprise version (no clue what they call it but you know what I mean) of Google services to get it to work, not the free version. I tried for a couple days anyway and couldn’t solve it, so I figured it was a good opportunity to de-google my email. Once I switched to Proton I had it set up in hardly any time at all, and all the different authentication protocols too. Longest part of the process was simply waiting for record propagation.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Windows 11 is failing as an operating system
0·12 days agoThat works to some extent, although certain receivers like Yahoo will bounce messages because it breaks sender authentication protocols. I had to switch from Gmail to Proton (paid, the free version doesn’t allow it) to fix that.

31·2 months agoThe somewhat recent Lindsey Graham death news was useful. The dude was an absolute scumbag, but everyone cheering his death and calling for the deaths of other politicians went right into the blocklist. I did some reading about it, and took the pulse of some younger people I know and it does seem that many (most?) Gen Z’s and younger Millennials generally feel that violence is the only solution to their perceived problems, with some even going as far as supporting retaliatory genocide in Israel. And that feeling of bloodthirsty revenge seemed prevalent. The notion of “two wrongs don’t make a right” is apparently old fashioned. Made me realize that my Xennial views are not very well aligned with the younger generations. Also makes me sad for the future, as I was hoping the foreign interventions and wars would eventually end and peace would prevail. Guess not.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do most Americans still refuse to consider that their own government could have been behind 9/11?
4·4 months agoWith any conspiracy theory I ask myself “Would I be able to do anything about it even if it were true?”. So far the answer has always been “No”. Therefore, I feel it’s pointless for me to let myself get upset or waste time and emotional energy on them when I could instead be doing something else.

Good point.
