I don’t get how you “self-host” some of these things like Linux, Ubuntu, Android, and Raspberry Pi. Are you saying you installed them on your computer or am I missing something?

Yeah, I’m always envious of people who can make sense of the info they find on the Arch wiki and forums. For me, it’s just a patchwork of solutions I found. Every time I add one, I pray to the computer gods that it doesn’t worsen my situation.

Same, I use it in conjunction with NewPipe to conveniently download videos/audio. I also make sure to turn off thumbnails set by creators. Even my favourite channels that make great content have to make clickbait thumbnails, which I absolutely cannot stand.

Yeah, fuck YouTube as a platform, but to dismiss the entire content seems a bit whack. But I guess if they’re already happy with whatever it is that they’re watching, it’s OK, I guess.

I dunno why, but when I decided to try Linux six months ago, I just went with Arch and every other day I regret my choice. I’m too invested now and I do like tinkering.

I have a win10 PC with an extra hard drive on which I’ve installed Arch on. I’m thinking of deleting the Windows partition for extra storage on my Arch side because my CPU doesn’t support Win11, apparently. Is there anything I should be careful of before I go forward with my plan other than backing up data and the usual hardware compatibility issues when only using Linux?

The name comes from the original tweak called YouTube Vanced after it got shut down. Vanced is Advanced without the Ad, which I thought was super clever.

The function I love is the thumbnail one, because I can’t stand a lot of thumbnails on YouTube. Even my favourite channels have to do the stupid faces and the arrows for the algorithm. The patch changes it back to the frame in the midpoint of the video.

I’ve only seen one other video of his, and I have to agree with you. He — at least in that video I saw — talked like an angry manosphere podcaster and it’s not something that I enjoy. It’s too bad because I think his message was pretty good. It was about digital cameras requiring apps for it to function and how that’s bullshit.
