SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•A skill or knowledge that you have that is typically associated with people of the opposite gender but that you think is odd or stupid that people of your own gender don't have?10·9 days agoNot sure about that. Plenty of women lack those qualities too (eg MTG, Noem, etc)
More frequent in men, certainly, but not exclusively.
Oh wow, that’s cool. Didn’t know that :-)
Someone else mentioned Seychelles, so I’ll also throw in the rather awesome, Jamaica:
Seconding Seychelles, such a cool flag.
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Have you ever cried over a celebrity or complete strangers death, why?4·29 days agoAdam Yauch from the Beastie Boys was one, and David Lynch very recently was another. Both hit really hard :-(
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What was the scariest nightmare you remember having?3·1 month agoThe one I always remember is from when I was a kid, probably about 8-10 years old.
It’s basically just this. I was on a bridge over a river (not a huge bridge or a huge river) and I somehow knew that my younger brother had fallen into the water, and I jump down and the water is only about thigh deep and I’m searching and searching in this muddy water, pulling it apart frantically with my hands, and I just can’t find him, and it goes on and on. I can still see it vividly. Deeply unsettling.

Good for you for holding firm! 😁👍
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is it possible to listen to artists who are terrible people without feeling guilty?4·2 months agolike Kanye’s Heil Hitler
Wait, what??? I thought this was a joke, so I just looked it up. I have no words…
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Bad film with amazing premise and mediocre execution that you can't stop thinking about?2·2 months agosuddenly find Aragorn a heartless wannabe totalitarian ruler in the middle of a bitter divorce with Arwen. There would also be silly gags where he drunkenly shatters Andúril trying to cut a melon or something, and the kids absolutely loathe him because dysfunctional interpersonal drama is trendy.
This is hilariously horrifying to imagine! 😁
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Bad film with amazing premise and mediocre execution that you can't stop thinking about?7·2 months agoQuite a few MST3K films have a decent premise IMO, but lacked either the budget or the talent to make enough of them.
Eg Time Chasers (which isn’t really all that bad), The Skydivers, Moon Zero Two, Rocket Attack USA, Stranded in Space, and perhaps even Manos: The Hands of Fate.
With the right people, I think those and others could have been very decent movies.
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Bad film with amazing premise and mediocre execution that you can't stop thinking about?51·2 months agoI love Rian Johnson’s other work, especially Brick and Knifes Out.
I also love Star Wars.
I thought TLJ was dreadful though. He was just a really bad fit for it IMO. Has nothing to do with not being open to change, but it has to be the right change. “Can you hear me now?” gags and Luke casually tossing away an item that had been set up as important in the previous film were not the right changes.
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Bad film with amazing premise and mediocre execution that you can't stop thinking about?17·2 months agoAgreed, it was a big letdown unfortunately, compared to any of the other versions (including the text adventure!)
Shame, because Martin Freeman was perfect for Arthur, and Stephen Fry as the voice of the Guide was a great choice too. Though Mos Def was ok as Ford, although not on a par with David Dickson (TV) or Geoffrey McGivern (radio).
Zaphod and Trillian weren’t right at all though IMO.
I very much enjoyed Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker. Last Jedi was painfully bad IMO. I like those other two much more than any of the prequels, true to Lucas’ vision or not.
But, it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks, if you want to watch them then do. And if you do, and you like them, then all good. And if you do watch them, but don’t like them, also all good. And if you decide not to watch them, also also all good.
Life’s too short to worry about a bunch of movies.
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do websites still include those buttons to share articles in 2025? does anyone even still use them?7·2 months agoI think it depends what the button function is - if it’s to go to the social channel of the business whose website you’re on, I agree the Contact Us page is the place for them.
However I think OP is talking about the type that is intended to share the current webpage onto the user’s own socials. That wouldn’t fit on Contact Us, except to share the contact us page :-)
Agreed about designers doing what everyone else does, but I’d add to that, that it may be client-driven - a lot of clients I’ve worked with see these things on other sites and so assume that they need them too. Even if the designer wanted to remove them, the client would likely insist 😁
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How many of you out there were influenced by Art Attack growing up?1·2 months agoAlways preferred Hartbeat to Art Attack. Buchanan was just a bit creepy. Plus, no Morph.
Also, was there not a story that those jumpers NB wore cost about £300 or something?
😁👍
