I live in a slightly less developed country where as far as 90% of the population are concerned, Facebook is the internet.
I hate it with a passion, but if I don’t have a login then there’s no way for me to find details of pretty much any business or event in the city.
I did a ‘download all your data’ on Facebook a while back and there wasn’t anything about my tracked browser history. Does this mean they’ve also violated the “users should be able to see the data you have on them” article of the GDPR as well?
I’m guessing they’re trying to hide behind weasel shit about the ids being anonymized or something as though it wasn’t trivially easy for them to deanonymize…
Sure, I’m just bemoaning the fact that you’ve taken cloud hosting to be the default. It’s as much a complaint about the world in general as anything specific to you. Good luck with it all.

I’m old enough to consider the framing of the question to be weirdly loaded.
It does not feel that long ago where people would be asked to justify entrusting their product’s functions and data to a bunch of strangers who can make unilateral decisions about your service with zero comeback. Now we’re being asked to justify not doing that.
You posted almost verbatim what I was about to write. It’s a proper “don’t shit on my pie and tell me it’s a blueberry” moment. That’s not what friends are.
The frustrating thing working in a big company is wanting to pay for something that costs 0.0000001% of the company’s annual revenue, but not being able to because big companies are always divided up in hundreds of small teams with their own budgets, and your boss is already over-budget for the quarter because the team’s cloud bill was 20% higher than predicted.
This is, of course, working exactly as designed.
