I worked in a warehouse, they’re mostly just storage locations.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you brush your teeth in the shower or the sink?

Linux@lemmy.ml•Is there a difference in updating via an uppdate manager/discover vs using the terminal?
3·2 months agoSome stuff needs a restart to use the new libraries and such when those things are already in use, since it doesn’t actually delete those until they stop being used. For example, if you get a new kernel, it won’t just delete your old one until you’re done using it. Terminal tools usually assume that you know this, so they won’t prompt you.

Linux@lemmy.ml•The worst mistake I could have possibly made with Linux...
3·4 months agoIf you’re looking for a change, there’s AV Linux, which is also Debian-based. Might be worth checking out.
They’re pretty distro-agnostic, you might have to translate some packages to whatever distro you’re using, but that’s just a quick search. The article in question
Do note that this requires some amount of fiddling, if that’s not your thing there are some distros that are already configured for audio production, such as AV Linux or Ubuntu Studio.
I just want someone to port PISSStream to KDE
I fixed all of that by following the suggestions on the Arch wiki page for Professional Audio, but I realize that not everyone knows about that.

I use KDEconnect nowadays, but I definitely used to email stuff to myself!
Check out the Arch wiki page for Professional Audio, it’s got some great distro-agnostic tips for reducing latency.
I don’t, unfortunately, I’m a guitarist primarily. I did see some MIDI stuff in the menus though, so I think it’d be fine? I think it’d probably depend on drivers, so you’d probably have to check if your device has Linux support, if it’s not just taken care of by the generic drivers. You might ask on linuxmusicians.com, they’re a great resource!
The last Windows machine in my house is because of one program: Embrilliance. It’s embroidery software that lets you make designs and send them directly to the embroidery machine. It technically works in WINE, but for some reason one of the cursors is missing, so when you try to draw freehand, you have no idea where the mouse is. Was thinking about trying Winboat for this eventually, but I haven’t gotten around to it.
