i just can’t stand gnome anymore, it was my favorite for a long time too. KDE is fine but I fucking hate Dolphin. I’m into Cosmic right now but I’m not sure I like the file manager

5·9 days agoI found people that shared their minimalist arch install scripts and just copied and pasted through a ssh shell
ruled I ruled afternoon! Took a little longer to get everything going and when I was done, I used that install for like 10 years
Gentoo should be on an island surrounded by a ring of rocks that makes it almost impossible to get to
yay breaks too often to be relied on for system updates
don’t let this type of bantering concern you
we are all just splitting hairs and knocking each other’s preferences when it is basically trivial. Like BMW and Mercedes drivers trying to one up who drives the superior German car

I have had arch installed on this laptop for 10+ years
today I look at the state of drive space
the OS is at a little less then 37GB of which 18.5GB are cached installs from pacman
cleaning the cache is as simple as paccache
10 years this install has been on this laptop and I use it daily.
Where is the bloat?

the windows key + r will open the Run command window, seems a lot easier then what you did for that but the other stuff PowerToys do is worth it

I’d have to use it again to tell you, to be honest. It’s been couple months since I last did and so my memory is a little foggy except for my dislike. I remember not liking how tabs work and how it took a bunch of tinkering to make it less annoying.
on a machine that I ran for years, i basically did kde but with a different file manager, that was wonky and presented it’s own problems but it wasn’t Dolphin so I was satisfied
