Almost every one of these places (that’s truly worth it) will have a way to pay without tech. They still want your money. Hell, ask the guy behind you on line, they’d probably take the credit card points.

As I’ve made more money in life, I pirate the same amount of stuff, basically (besides games). But I also spend a shitload of money on the stuff I like. Instead of paying Netflix or Spotify, I buy DVD/BD box sets, collector’s editions, vinyl, bandcamp my favorite albums, and way too many concert tickets. Avoid the middleman and support the creator.

What’s the average socioeconomic status of your friend group? Most people have tablets now because they can “get them free” from the phone company.

I don’t even think most people own a PC at this point, just tablets and phones.

99% of the general public will not pirate anything because they lack the ability to do so. Of the 1% left, 99% of them use public trackers with variable results regarding quality and shady website shenanigans. The most common form of piracy going forward will probably be like those hacked fire sticks that would stream pirated content, because it’s easy and low barrier, like the hacked cable box cards/chips from the 90s.

generally speaking, recording in public is legal, and this is generally a good thing. but the laws haven’t kept up with the tech, especially covert wearables that will 100% be used mostly for creepy shit.

whatever reason they claim it is, it isn’t. just like with crypto, AI, NFTs, the metaverse, whatever.

the real reason is they are unfuckable losers who want to record women. and maybe some normal weird people who like archiving literally everything. the second group can be reasoned with and don’t mind restrictions like visible recording lights, etc. the first group will fight tooth and nail about their “right” to be a creep on the metro.
