Yep, a VPN is a good solution.
Keep in mind that to protect your privacy you should also share your instance with others. All the searches are still linked to an IP which can be abused as well.
Mostly because Linux doesn’t get in my way and I don’t need to think about it.

They have been “closing in” on this release since forever.
Maybe you need 2FA on your GitHub account before you can do that. GitHub has made it a requirement for almost all the “dev” stuff.

Emails are personal data and are not allowed to be shown without specifically opting in for it. In Europe at least. Same for IP. This is also why when you “Recover Password” it will say something like “if this email address is found we’ll send you a mail”. So nobody can just check if an email exists on the service.
All, yes. And I have blocked most of the communities that call themselves “News” or similar, but almost only post US politics as news. Yet it still trickles down into other communities.
