My right monitor will occasionally turn off when the small refrigerator in the room starts its compressor. The right monitor isn’t on battery powered backup like the left one, in an effort to have a bit more time on battery when power really goes out. Took a while for me to figure out the cause, but if I had to troubleshoot that remotely (I do remote IT support for a living) I’d be so confused.

I’m not a programmer; at best I script.

Mostly powershell, but there are a lot of cmd commands useful in troubleshooting, and robocopy and other tools are more reliable than their gui counterparts.

You are telling I am not even allowed to use Lemmy?English15·4 months agoEh, I don’t really see an issue with it at my age, but I guess for younger people it could be bad. I’m in my 40s now, but aside from producing some data to be mined, I don’t see how people knowing that hurts me.
Or in the case of Destiny and FFXIV:
I can’t tell my hours, because I left it open while doing other stuff, and overnight etc. Same with Ark. Both have 8k+ hourly, but FFXIV has more (but isn’t in steam for me).
Doesn’t taskkill /force also do so for the most part? Except maybe a system protected service or something. Haven’t tried it on those.

Half of their crazy ideas are because they heard a rumor and/or assumed the Soviets were doing it. Mind control, truth serums, ESP, cat spies.
People like these? I do em all the time but always feel I’m overexplaining.

For what it’s worth, it is useful to some to hear it, since it could help people see differences between the US and other countries. It’s just said in a way that felt more like “Butchers don’t do this” rather than “As the contrast, I don’t see this done in my country”. Either way though, in the spirit of the question it is sorta off topic.
It’s like asking “Why does this currency have this person on it?” and getting the answer “I’ve never seen that currency used anywhere I lived.” While true, it’s not really relevant, doesn’t answer the question, and can either be taken as a long winded way to say “I don’t know” or stubborn self centered everything worth knowing is centered around your own experiences. Which is definitely reading into it too much, but there are people who act like that, either as trolls or real jingoists.
Most survival builders that use natural resources. I’d see flowers I think I should gather, or trees I could chop down for wood, etc
chatokun@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Was this considered 'piracy' back in the day?English11·1 year agoMy brother and I (mostly him, just helped a small bit) used to distribute Anime this way. He’d buy laserdiscs of Anime like Rurouni Kenshin (OVA/Prequel)and Yu Yu Hakushou, then download translations for subtitles and time them on the computer, using a bluescreen pass through and onto some SVHS VCRs. From those two SVHS VCRs, he’d use 9 others to copy them onto VHS tapes for distribution via mail. He’d charge cost iirc, not making profit on it.
I’m 100% sure it would be considered piracy if the companies had a way to find out. Plus VHS tapes had piracy warnings on them back then anyway.

Yes, I know, vms, but that’s for saving money/space. Especially MAC I’d have some hardware too. Definitely not a main system though. I currently have a broken Mac and a cheap chromebook for that reason, though due to being broken the Mac is rather useless now. When it worked I often used it to help test/troubleshooting customer stuff.

It has two teeth like things and usually a barely noticeable “button” to press to release.
